LaSportiva Raptor

NPT SUPERLIGHT GEAR LIST

On my Northville-Placid Trail unsupported 60.5 hour, 133 mile blitz I carried 12lb (not including water) of food and equipment.
This is what I brought…
MARMOT MICA RAIN JACKET

Super light and Waterproof! The new sub 7 oz. rain jacket from Marmot.
TRAIL GAITER ROUNDUP
Gaiters for trail running offer a few advantages. The main benefit is to keep trail debris out of the shoe. Stopping to dig stones and mud globs out every so often gets old quick causing you to lose time, or if ignored can led to blisters/cuts. The other benefit of gaiters is to divert water from entering your shoe from the ankle area.
I’M SCREWED!
Winter trail running is all about traction. In order to to move forward you must stay on your feet.
LASPORTIVA CROSSLITE

The Crosslite is a lightweight racer with a aggressive tread. Just by lacing this shoe up you feel fast.
DARN TOUGH!
There are two things that will stop your run dead in it’s tracks…crappy shoes and socks. There are so many great socks are on the market now. But just like shoes it can take a while to find the right socks for your feet.
JULBO TRAIL SUNGLASSES

I like to wear sunglasses when I run for a number of reasons:
Protection from bugs… Ouch! Love it when a fly pings off your eyeball. Wear contact lenses? Try rubbing a stuck blackfly out of your eye. Protection from branches… A stick in the eye will ruin your day. Protection from bright sunlight… Cataracts are over rated. Stop squinting. Relaxed eyes=Relaxed body.
NATHAN HPL #028
I am a big fan of Nathan products. They are well made and well thought out in design. The products offer great quality for the price. One of the items I use very often is the Human Propulsion Labs (HPL) #028 Race Vest.
